Advertising and promoting has begun more difficult and expensive over the years. Especially for DJs looking to cash in on the lucrative wedding market. Online sites like The Knot and WeddingWire have capitalized on pitting DJs against each other with rotating featured listings and charging premium dollars only to deliver very lack luster results! DJs have also tried Facebook ads and other social media platforms with mixed results for the investment.
It is also a very competitive environment in the Facebook wedding groups where a bride might make a post looking for a DJ only to be overwhelmed by 150 responses. All of the DJs claiming they are the best and will beat any rate quote. This is clearly not a efficient way to make contact with a prospective client. So, Mike Fernino, founder of DJ Idea Sharing had an idea how to make a Facebook group that would connect wedding couples with truly professional DJs without having a meat market fiasco experience. He created a group that would fix all those problems and give DJs a real opportunity to connect with potential work without getting fleeced by the BIG on-line pay-per-lead websites.
The group is called, “Find Your Wedding DJ” and it is growing fast. With over 350 DJs who have already joined along with couples jumping in to meet them the potential really is there for a great way to connect. Several barriers have been put in place to make sure this group is different from the other Facebook wedding groups. There are admins who will only welcome DJs who are legitimately experienced and professional in performing weddings. This way a bride won’t have to sort through 100 DJs who may or may not know what they are doing.
Moderation of the group will also ensure that there will only be a handful of DJs allowed to respond to a wedding couple when they post looking for their perfect wedding entertainer. Prices will not be allowed to be posted along with discussion of business. That can be done privately between the DJ and the client.

The exciting part of this is that the Facebook group is just the beginning of something potentially much bigger and very successful for DJs. A website is planned giving DJs their own page to create a profile allowing wedding couples to register and view DJs in their area who might be a great match! There won’t be rotating top of page listings, featured profiles, reviews, awards or Hall of Fame acknowledgments. Just pure simplicity matching couples with great DJs!
When the website is finished there will be a small fee for website maintenance and hosting but the emphasis will be on “SMALL Fee”. The website will also link direct to the Find Your Wedding DJ Facebook group along with a blog and podcast! The blog will be open to all participating DJ members of the website to write articles that brides will find interesting, educational and helpful! Our goal will be to do more than just match a bride with her DJ. We would like to educate them as well. The website release is planned for Spring/Summer 2025!
